Latest Collage Artworks

Its been a busy week! These are my latest collage artworks. The black and white,'Dark Dream', one was created for my 'secret santa' gift. I used an actual dreamcatcher and surrealist imagery. The second one, 'Garden of Light', was made for my mother in law as a Christmas gift. I wanted to make her something bright and meaningful. I used seed pearls on the goddess statue.

Venetian Masks for the Ball

We are attending a holiday party this year and the theme is masquerade! We found these masks online from Carta Alta and love that we have a 'his' and 'hers' version of this baroque inspired mask.

TOTO Jones Jewelry

The past few months I have been very busy designing jewelry for my own line. I have written the content for the new website and have obtained almost all the supplies I need for the first prototypes! I am really excited about seeing my vision come to life. The designs are mainly long pendants that function as inspiration pieces for the wearer. They will hold a variety of gems as well as engraved designs, all placed in sterling silver and 18k gold. I will post them, along with the new site as soon as they are ready!

Latest Brochure ~ Pavé Fine Jewelry

I just completed the latest brochure for Pavé Fine Jewelry. I sourced the slate from a local tile shop and I love how they compliment the textures and colors of the jewelry. I also chose a heavier paper for this years booklet and decided on gold foil for the logo.

Bonnie Scotland

Holiday Cards

We just finished writing our holiday cards and hope to find cute stamps that will work well with the green seals. I created a lino block print and found great card stock and envelopes at paper source.

Holiday Posters

I have been playing with some retro images for the holidays! The top one was modified from a 1950's Barbie ad.

Mineral Silk Scarves

I discovered these amazing printed silk scarves on Net-a-porter.They are designed by WESTON and represent close ups of various rocks and minerals. The ones I love shown here are agate and mica schist.

Cotton and Linen Shawl

I just finished this shawl and I am super excited about it. I originally intended for this to be a travel blanket but I changed my mind. It is extra long and wraps around a few times in a great dramatic way. I wove this piece using linen and cotton and it took much longer than I expected. I still have some warp left on the loom and may make a shorter version using some bolder greens I have.

Custom made 'Tsuba' Pendant

This year my husband and I celebrated four years of marriage. I really wanted to give him something extra special that had a personal touch. Yas Tanaka, head goldsmith at Pavé Fine Jewelry and 4th generation Silversmith from Japan took on my commission to create this 'Tsuba' pendant. The 'Tsuba' is a hand guard traditionally found on Japanese swords. The patina is a closely guarded family secret, passed down through the family. I wanted to incorporate a dragon as Morgwn has an affinity with the beast and tattoo to boot, as well as a Scottish thistle to represent my home country Scotland. The back reads right to left, as per the Japanese language and says, '2012, Yas Tanaka, 4 years, Roseanna and Morgwn' I will be creating a website for Yas this year, watch this space for more details!

Personal Travel Blanket

I started last week on my latest woven piece. It is a soft, portable blanket that can fold into most bags. I am making this series out of linen, cotton and tencel. Better pictures to follow. The lighting on the studio is too warm!

Strawbaby Jam

Morgwn and I hit the Berkeley Bowl this week and found some perfect strawberries and peaches to make jam from. We used a very simple recipe and it came out sooo tasty, especially on crusty, buttery toast. The cotton fabric comes from Piedmont Fabric. They have a wonderful selection of printed and woven textiles. We cant wait to give these to our friends and family.

Rodeo Beach with Lilly

We spent out days off relaxing at the beach. Lilly was in her element, sunbathing and helping us with our roast chicken on baguette sandwiches.

Gems at the Natural History Museum

We had an amazing trip to NYC and made it a priority to visit the gem and mineral floor at the Natural History Museum. It was a very different experience this time around now that I work with gems on a day to day basis. I really loved viewing the gem species in all their forms from rough to faceted and even wearable finished piece. The meteorites were also amazing, to touch an object that is older than earth is some what mind blowing.
