Gems at the Natural History Museum

We had an amazing trip to NYC and made it a priority to visit the gem and mineral floor at the Natural History Museum. It was a very different experience this time around now that I work with gems on a day to day basis. I really loved viewing the gem species in all their forms from rough to faceted and even wearable finished piece. The meteorites were also amazing, to touch an object that is older than earth is some what mind blowing.

Moorcroft Pottery

I love pottery and especially hand painted beauties like this! Moorcroft pottery is solely created in Staffordshire, England and has been since 1897. I watched a documentary recently showing the process of creation and the glaze painting is truly a stunning technique.

Paper Eyelashes

Laser cut paper motifs have been trending for some time now and in what seems to be a natural progression, I have found them in the form of eyelashes. Very striking, just dont get caught in the rain.

Halloween Dress

This year I plan on dressing up as Elizabeth Taylor from Cleopatra. The eye make-up is the best part! We are hosting a Halloween party on Sunday and I cant wait to see everyone in costume!
